The UCLA Division of Humanities deeply explores the human condition across time and place, seeking to foster critical thinking, cultural understanding and intellectual curiosity by engaging students with a diverse range of fields.

Through rigorous inquiry and exploration, it aims to cultivate thoughtful, compassionate individuals who appreciate the complexities of the human experience, contribute to the well-being of society and are best equipped to navigate the challenges of an interconnected world. 

The division believes that humanists are uniquely capable of envisioning frameworks for more just and inclusive societies, and of forging alliances among advocates and scholars from the sciences, law and medicine, education and the arts to bring those visions to life.
