The Walter H. Rubsamen Music Library provides access to one of the largest academic music collections in North America and is the largest and oldest major music library on the West Coast of the United States. Its holdings include more than 400,000 physical items spanning all genres of music, from ancient times to today. The Music Library is one of the most used UCLA Library spaces and collections, with over 100,000 visitors and over 35,000 items checked out each year.

The Walter H. Rubsamen Music Library is a key resource for UCLA students, faculty, and the greater Los Angeles music community. The Library supports the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, any class at UCLA with a music or audio component, and the broader Southern California music community. It provides access to almost every major online resource for music as well as 80,000 books, 115,000 scores, over 100 journal subscriptions, almost 200,000 sound recordings, and an extensive collection of facsimiles of music scores.
