For nearly 40 years, the Chase Child Life Program at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital has addressed pediatric patients' social, emotional and psychosocial needs in culturally sensitive ways. Team members consult with each patient and family, providing age-appropriate information, identifying stress sources and developing coping strategies. They offer developmental insights to medical teams, while creating normalized experiences through art therapy and medical play.
